Glutamic acid decarboxylase in Rhodotorula glutinis.

چکیده
1. The metabolism of 131I-labelled thyroglobulin from four mammalian species has been studied. 2. The rat, dog and monkey rapidly metabolize the homologous protein, with the formation of iodide, iodotyrosines and thyroxine. Rabbit thyroglobulin disappears slowly from the plasma of the rabbit after intravenous injection, and no metabolites have so far been detected in the blood. 3. The development of immune reactions to foreign thyroglobulins has been observed in all the species. 4. Heterologous thyroid protein is, in general, cleared from the plasma of non-immune animals of all four species without the appearance in the plasma of significant amounts of simple metabolites. This is not so, however, when monkey thyroglobulin is injected into rats and vice versa, for rapid metabolism takes place and thyroxine appears in the plasma. REFERENCES

Role of L-lysine-alpha-ketoglutarate aminotransferase in catabolism of lysine as a nitrogen source for Rhodotorula glutinis.
Wild-type and saccharopine dehydrogenaseless mutant strains of Rhodotorula glutinis grew in minimal medium containing lysine as the sole nitrogen source and simultaneously accumulated, in the culture supernatant, large amounts of a product identified as alpha-aminoadipic-delta-semialdehyde. The saccharopine dehydrogenase and pipecolic acid oxidase levels remained unchanged in wild-type cells gr...
متن کاملSignificant Changes in the Activity of L-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase of Mouse Hypothalamus After Peripheral Injection of Cholecystokinin-8 and Caerulein
The activity of one of the metabolizing enzymes of - aminobutyric acid, (GABA), was determined in mouse hypothalamus after peripheral injections of cholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8) and caerulein (CLN). The activity of this rate-limiting enzyme, L-glutamic acid decarboxylase, (GAD), did not change thirty minutes after peripheral injections of either CCK-8 or CLN in doses of 50g/kg body weight. Howeve...
متن کاملAttempts to detect lycopersene formation in yeast.
1. beta-Ionone vapour has been shown to cause an increase in the more saturated carotenes and a decrease in the less saturated carotenes of Rhodotorula glutinis. Lycopersene (dihydrophytoene) has been proposed as a precursor to phytoene. Attempts were made to isolate lycopersene from beta-ionone-treated cultures of R. glutinis. 2. Large samples of beta-ionone-treated cultures were examined for ...
متن کاملAttachment Capability of Antagonistic Yeast Rhodotorula glutinis to Botrytis cinerea Contributes to Biocontrol Efficacy
Rhodotorula glutinis as an antagonism show good biocontrol performance against various post-harvest diseases in fruits. In the present study, strong attachment capability of R. glutinis to spores and hyphae of Botrytis cinerea was observed. Further analysis showed that certain protein components on the yeast cell surface played critical role during the interaction between R. glutinis and B. cin...
متن کاملCarotenoid biosynthesis in Rhodotorula glutinis.
It was determined that lycopene could be cyclized directly by Rhodotorula glutinis. It was also shown the the temperature effect (i.e., increased beta-carotene synthesis in response to lower incubation temperatures) in R. glutinis was controlled by changes in enzyme concentration.
